Meet Kavitha Sreeharsha
Kavitha Sreeharsha is a Strategic Consultant providing philanthropic advisory services with a special focus on immigrant justice and immigration. She is also an International Coaching Federation (ICF)-certified coach and offers healing-centered coaching to entry, mid-level, and executive nonprofit and philanthropic leaders. Kavitha founded Ginkgo Solutions to merge the values of resilience and healing with services designed to bridge the gap between philanthropic institutions and individual donors with immigration and immigrant justice organizations.
Having more than a decade of experience in the immigrant rights nonprofit sector and more than a decade in immigration philanthropy, Kavitha believes that true change emerges from the strength of a diverse ecosystem of immigration and immigrant justice organizations. With over 25 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her clients. Throughout her career in philanthropy, she has managed portfolios worth over eight figures and has funded and supported more than 250 organizations and projects.
Before founding Ginkgo Solutions, Kavitha led Emerson Collective’s Immigrant Justice Philanthropy, where she transformed Emerson Collective into one of the leading national funders in the immigrant justice space over eight years. By providing bespoke support to build organizational capacity and strategy, she developed a deep understanding of the resources needed for organizations to grow and thrive. Before joining Emerson Collective, she served as a Program Officer at the Sobrato Family Foundation, leading investments in critical safety net and career pathways programs for low-income Silicon Valley residents.
Her expertise in program design and organizational strength stems from over a decade of nonprofit immigrant rights work as a direct services immigration attorney, public policy advocate, and provider of national technical assistance. She has designed numerous programs delivering direct legal services, multi-sector coalition building, policy advocacy, and training and technical assistance. She has also managed several federally funded programs and has worked within the federal government at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Additionally, she authored the book “Freedom for All,” which assists individuals in identifying and accessing protections for trafficked and exploited undocumented workers. These varied experiences have solidified her belief that social change must be multi-tactical and requires a tapestry of impactful programming.
Kavitha is a proud alum of U.C. Berkeley and U.C. Law San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law). Her immigrant parents instilled in her a strong value for justice, and she is motivated every day by her spirited daughter to build a more just society.
